DAILY COURIER – Award-winning Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, will join other International acts to perform at the coronation of King Charles, scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
King Charles will be ascending to the throne after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
According to BBC, the singer is among a line-up of international musicians to perform at the coronation concert.
The concert, produced by BBC Studios, will hold on the grounds of Windsor Castle as part of a three-day festivity.
Ahead of the event, the singer met with Camilla, the Queen Consort, while on a visit abroad.
Reacting to the development, Tiwa Savage revealed she’s excited to represent her culture at the ceremony.
“It’s truly an honour to be representing Africa and the Commonwealth at such a historic event.
“I look forward to joining the celebrations and bringing Afrobeats to Windsor Castle for the first time!” she told BBC.
King Charles III’s coronation concert will feature other artistes including Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Take That, Paloma Faith, Steve Winwood, Lang Lang, and Nicole Scherzinger.
Indian actress, Sonam Kapoor, will deliver a spoken word performance.
The festivity will include a series of street parties throughout the UK and a volunteering campaign.
