Daily Courier – A former commissioner for works and housing in Kogi State, Abubakar Salihu Ohiare has maintained that Governor Yahaya Bello is the most qualified candidate going into the party primaries.
Ohiare said the current disposition is towards a youthful candidate, a demographic which favours his principal if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gives him his ticket.
“Don’t forget also that in the current dispensation the youth in democracy, the governance is shifting from the older version to youth democracy and when I said youth democracy; I’m talking of the youth class that have proper understanding of the challenges of Nigeria. So by that his excellency represents that youth democracy so by this I’m convince that the youth will not dissapoint him in 2023. They will surely vote him as the next president” he said.
On the suitability of Bello despite been a youth, he opined he will be a unifier of the country.
“When you look at his credentials he has performed so well in terms of unifying Kogi State never mind the background, the geographic location and the ethics difference of Kogi State. He has done so well in terms of unifying the people of Kogi State we are believing God that since this is another big question we are lacking at the national level if he becomes the president of Nigeria in May 2023 he is going to throw up a system that will harmonise and unify Nigeria so this is why we are sure that Nigerians will give him the support to swing in as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” Ohiare added.
Ohiare who is vying for the Kogi Central senatorial seat promised to package all the necessary legislations that will enable the Federal government to attend to the Ajaokuta steel company. And ensure that the federal government take a second look at the near impassable roads in the senatorial district.
“Virtually half of the roads in Kogi Central belongs to federal government. So we have a lot of infrastructures that are looking for attention. So our purpose in the national assembly is to throw such legislation that will help the Federal government to look inward. Not only the central if you look, When you leave Abaji you won’t see good roads untill you reach Benin which is uncalled for and we want to make up a legislation that will make federal government to see the need to address this challenging incidence on our roads. These are part of the things we are going to do” he said.
He promised to abide by any party decision to arrive at a candidate for the party.
“We are open to all options in as much as we are loyal party members we believe in the party’s structure and we are going to work in the party’s regulation and guidelines” Ohiare added.
