Daily Courier – No fewer than 12 persons, believed to be farmers and residents of Gakurdi community in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State have been reported dead, following an attack by terrorists.

Reports claimed that the assailants were seen at about 8.30 am on Tuesday heading towards Gakurdi when they sighted some farmers and allegedly shot at them.

The farmers were killed, while other residents of the community who were with them scampered for safety.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Katsina Police Command, Superintendent of Police Gambo Isah, said, “Yes, it is true that the incident occurred. The bandits were in the village on Tuesday morning and they killed 12 people.”

Isah said the Commissioner of Police, CP Idris Dabban, led a team of security operatives to the village after the killings for on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

The attack came less than 24 hours after more than 40 farmers were murdered by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
