Daily Courier – The vacant stool of the bishop of Ekiti Diocese (Anglican Communion) has been filled by the election of The Rt Rev. Andrew Olusola Ajayi at the concluded Episcopal conference in Akure, Ondo state.

The 64 years old bishop until his election to Ekiti is the Bishop of Ekiti Kwara (Anglican Communion).

He replaced the Diocesan Bishop, the Most Rev. Dr. Christopher Omotunde, who retired from office as the occupant of the seat after attaining the retirement age of 70 years.

The bishop is coming to a familiar ground because before his election and enthronement as bishop of Ekiti Kwara diocese, Ajayi, was the most senior venerable and Dean of the cathedral in Ekiti Diocese.

Taking reactions from clergy and laity of the diocese, a senior clergy in the diocese, The Ven.Dr & Mrs Ola Olajobi in his congratulatory message writes: “Behold the new Bishop of Ekiti Diocese (Anglican Communion) and his amiable wife–The Rt Rev. & Mrs Andrew Olusola Ajayi.Wishing you a wonderful tenure in Ekiti.May God endow with wisdom, knowledge and seemless anointing, for unprecedented accomplishments in your Episcopacy, in Jesus unfailing name.Amen. CONGRATULATIONS ! ! !

A lay reader and former commissioner for lands and housing in Ekiti state, Hon. Taelolu Otitoju writes: “Thank God, I pray his time will usher in more success, upliftment and blessings to the Diocese. The Holy spirit will journey with Baba and the Diocese shall have her peace. Congratulations and welcome sir.”

Mr Jide Adara, congratulated the new Bishop and prayed that his tenure will bring progress, prosperity and peace in Ekiti diocese and the state at large.

Bishop Ajayi is married to Mrs Olusola Ajayi and they are blessed with children.

The date for his enthronement which statutorily will commence his six years episcopacy has not yet been announced.
