Daily Courier – Christian youths have been charged to get involved in partisan politics to effect the desired change which they envisage for Nigeria.
This was the position of the head of politics and governance of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, FCT Province 5 Young Youths and Adults (RCCG YAYA) Abuja, Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu (LLB).
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Nwachukwu stated that Nigeria is in need of biblical Joseph, Daniel, David in its helms of affairs to enthrone righteousness and godliness in the political leadership of our nation Nigeria.
He stated that christians are obligated to participate in partisan politics for the overall public good. Since the policies and actions of government affect our everyday lives, thus, it is imperative for christians to get involved in the political process and offices for the purpose of shaping public policy to entrench godly ethics, morals, values and implement programmes that will empower the citizenry as the scripture affirmed that when the righteous are in authority, the people will rejoice.
He further emphasised that Nigeria’s public sector is in urgent need of genuine christian influence as the nation continues to be awash with news articles about corruption in government and other perennial issues which are undermining the prosperity and greatness of Nigerians.
Nwachukwu bemoaned the current state of the nations polity, he revealed that Nigeria is currently bedevilled by myriad of mind boggling challenges occasioned by corruption, insecurity, unemployment among other social vices and therefore it has become imperative for christian youths to move from political spectator to political actors who will sanitise the Nigerian system and make governance accountable to the Nigerian populace.
He called on christian youths to aside praying for the political leaders in the country, he called on christian youths to identify with the various Political parties in the country, register in thier wards and obtain thier membership card as well as register and collect thier voters card and participate in the decision making process of thier party from the ward level and make meaningful contribution towards the overall good of the nation.
