Power outage: FG reiterates commitment to sectoral reforms, delivery

Daily Courier – Again, the Federal Government has reiterated it’s resolve to reform the power sector to enhance effecient delivery

This came against the backdrop of recent Power outage in some parts of the country on Friday.

In a press release dated 8th April, 2022, the Ministry of Power attributed the outage to system collapse.

According to the statement, investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the recurring grid failure is currently ongoing by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and System Operator.

The statement added that while the process of restoring supply is ongoing, some sections of the national grid is also already being energised and supply restored to consumers.

The Federal Government has therefore assured that it is working assiduously to deliver on the much-needed reforms and investments in the sector.

The statement reads in part: ” While a detailed investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the recurring grid failure is currently ongoing by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and System Operator (the operator of the national grid), the process of restoring supply is ongoing with some sections of the national grid already energised and supply restored to consumers.

“We wish to assure Nigerians that the Federal Government is working assiduously to deliver on the much-needed reforms and investments, including SCADA, that are critical to improving the capacity and reliability of the national grid.

The statement further reiterated Mr. President’s resolves to closing infrastructure deficits in critical sectors of the Nigerian economy.
