Daily Courier – The National Working Committee NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP led by its chairman Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, has received a report of the Advisory Committee on Vice-President of PDP, that was handed the job to recommend a running mate for the party’s presidential standard-bearer, Atiku Abubakar.
The NWC was handed the report on Wednesday during a meeting with the Vice-President Advisory Committee in Abuja.
Mr Abubakar had given the administrative arm of the party to assist him in selecting the right running mate for the 2023 elections.
The administrative arm in light of the obligation set up a 19 man advisory committee to consider the request of the presidential candidate.

The committee in its deliberations of Tuesday, 14 June, 2022 narrowed down to governors Nyesome Wike of Rivers State, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State all from the south-South out of various members of the party that indicateed interest in the job.
Sources after the advisory committee’s meeting was concluded on Tuesday, said that the recommendation committee has picked the Rivers State governor, Nyesome Wike to serve as the running mate to the presidential candidate of the party.
The NWC is now with the mandate to formally act on the recommendation by transmitting the name to Mr Abubakar, and to conduct a screening excercise.
However, Mr Abubakar may or not accept the choice.
The party had already scheduled a date for the screening of the candidates for Thursday 16 June, 2022 at the headquarters of the party in Abuja, where the candidates are expected to be screened led by the chairman of the screening committee, Chief Tom Ikimi.
