Daily Courier – The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party is currently in a deliberation meeting that will lead to the announcement of the running mate of its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

In a meeting holding currently at the PDP national headquarters, Wadata plaza, the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu charged the deliberation committee headed by the deputy North-west chairman Ambassador Umaru Damagum to look into various option of candidate and pick the best.

The national chairman said, “The candidate wrote to us as the administrative arm of the party on the choice of his running mate.

“Our presidential candidate this time has decided to carry everybody along unlike 2019 when he didn’t consult widely in his choice of running mate.”

“I wish you a successful deliberation and I hope you come up with a conclusion between tomorrow and Friday.”

The national chairman who also spoke on the absence of Atiku Abubakar said, “The presidential candidate of our party would have been here but this morning he suddenly dashed somewhere, he apologised and if he comes early, he will join us but we will go ahead with the assignment he has given us.”

Daily Courier reports that various organ of the party are well represented in the committee: National working committee, Governors forum, members of National assembly, Former governors.

Important personalities currently in the meeting include: House Minority Leader, Hon. Tony Elumelu, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, former governor of Niger State, Babagida Aliyu, former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, former Cross Rivers State Governor, yon Imoke and former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko and PDP National Secretary, Sam Nwayanu, National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature.
