DAILY COURIER – Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni, has unveiled the implementation of a 10-year Development Masterplan for Damaturu, the state capital.

A statement issued by Spokesman for the Yobe Geographic Information Service (YOGIS), Usman Geidam, said the masterplan will produce an overarching planning document and spatial layout, which will guide the land use in Damaturu.

“The capital city masterplan has not been updated in two and half decades.

“The masterplan will produce an overarching planning document and spatial layout which will guide the land use in Damaturu.

“The plan will also recommend sites for public use, economic activities, affordable housing, transportation, infrastructure, community facilities and other land uses.

“This will be obtained by reviewing the current and existing plan”, he said, adding that the state government will implement the plan to put Damaturu on a pedestal of sustainable socio-economic development, especially with reforms on land administration.
