Daily Courier – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday commenced distribution of election materials for Saturday’s Governorship Election in Ekiti.

Daily Courier visited some INEC local government offices in Ado, Igede and Aramoko headquarters of Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West local governments respectively when the materials were distributed for movement to the RAC centres

In all the local governments visited, long queue of vehicles were parked waiting to transport the electoral materials to the wards and rac centres concerned.

A transporter, Mr Jide Adara in Ado Ekiti complained about the long waiting period. He said, I have been here for more than five hours and you can see that it is still a long way before it gets to my turn.” Dare Seyi another driver however commended INEC for the orderly arrangement and hope this would be replicated tomorrow to forestall late arrival of materials to polling units.

At the INEC local government office in Igede, Mr Muhammed Sani who is billed to convey election materials to Igbemo Ekiti praised INEC for the timeous and orderly arrangement while Adeoti Zaccheus, one of the drivers going to Iworoko Ekiti also commended the commission for the detailed job.

Across the local government offices, ad-hoc staff were seen in clusters checking their names on the pasted lists in preparation for the election tomorrow.

A few of the adhoc staff who spoke to Daily Courier look forward to a peaceful and hitch free polls across the land of honour tomorrow, promising to play by the INEC guidelines impartially.

Some of the materials distributed were: ballot boxes, mats, voting cubicles, tables, booklets, other non sensitive materials.
