Daily Courier – Zimbabwe citizens are currently facing tough times economically and people are willing to go to the extremes to put food on the table.

In several viral posts on social media it has been revealed that some people are now exchanging their fingers and toes for money for as high as N16 million.

The finger ritual has been associated with the so-called ‘Big Boys’ in the country’s capital city who splurge large sums of money in the city’s night clubs and drive luxury vehicles.

According to journalist Barry Roux, Zimbabweans are selling their toes to a millionaire for $40K and $20K, depending on the sizes of the toes of the individuals selling theirs.

Journalist Barry Roux reports:

“Zimbabwean millionaire is buying toes from poor Zimbabweans. He is giving them close to 40 000 US Dollars or a brand new car to cut their toe in public.

“In Zimbabwe, people have started selling their toes for thousands of dollars or for big cars. This is due to the high cost of living and failure for the government to create jobs. The toes are being bought at $40,000 dollars (N16 million) while the smaller ones at $20,000 dollars (N8 million).”

After making the report, another top journalist shared a video showing the moment a young man is seen giving a car key to an elderly man who was willing to have his toe cut off for the car and cash.
