DAILY COURIER – The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has appointed Professor Yomere Gabriel Oritsemolebi, as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Cross River State.

 

Oritsemolebi becomes the fourth REC that has been deployed to the state within the last thirteen months.

 

Other Resident Electoral Commissioners who have been posted out of the state within the last thirteen months include Dr Emmanuel Hart, Dr Cyril Omorogbe and Dr Johnson Sinikiem Alalibo.

 

The Commission has not explained the reason for the huge turnout of REC posted and hurriedly redeployed from the state.

 

The Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Anthonia Nwobi, said the new REC, who hails from Delta State has resumed duty.

 

She said Prof. Yomere Gabriel is among the nineteen (19) newly sworn-in RECs and is a Strategic management specialist, who acquired his First Degree, Master’s and Ph.D in Germany.

 

She added that before his appointment, he was a lecturer and astute administrator, who served in various capacities in both Federal and State Universities in Nigeria. He is a Christian, married and blessed with children.
