DAILY COURIER – The International Peace Commission in Nigeria, under the leadership of Ambassador Hussaini Haruna Coomassie, has condemned the heinous crime and killings of the United States embassy officials in Anambra state late Monday, describing the unfortunate incident as an affront against the sovereignty of Nigeria by unscrupulous individuals.

The Head of Mission, IPC-Nigeria, Amb Hussaini Haruna Coomassie, in a press statement on Wednesday, expressed the position of the IPC Mission in Nigeria.

Recall that four persons suspected to be officials of the United States of America Embassy in Nigeria were feared dead following an attack in the Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State on Monday. It was gathered that their convoy came under fire by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

While lamenting the killings of diplomats on humanitarian assignments in the state, Amb Coomassie demands a thorough investigation.

“The IPC-Nigeria under my leadership condemned attacks on innocent humanitarian workers in Nigeria or any part of the country irrespective of their nationality, and we are calling for full-scale investigation for justice to prevail, and more importantly as the US embassy workers were attacked while on a humanitarian mission,” Coomassie said.

The IPC Boss further described the incident as a national embarrassment and demand a quick response from all security agencies.

“This nonsense must stop, these guys are becoming irritating and the unfortunate aspect of it is that they are known by their kinsmen within the community.

“The federal government should hold these kinsmen responsible for the barbaric act and must do all it could to bring an end to this.

“There cannot be another sovereign state inside another, there will be anarchy to have a country within another country. The government must use all its intelligence to bring back law and order even if warrants bringing in external forces, enough is enough of this heinous crime in Nigeria.” Coomassie stressed.
