Daily Courier – The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Atiku Abubakar, has said that his victory at the National convention is for Nigerians who are suffering under the anarchy and misrule of the APC government.
Abubakar made the declaration while receiving his Certificate of return as the candidate of the party on Wednesday, held at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
Abubakar won the PDP’s special convention primary, held last week after scoring 371 votes ahead of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike who scored 237.
“I am honoured and humbled to receive this certificate of Return haven emerged as our party’s candidate in our just concluded special convention. This victory is for our party, and the vast majority of Nigerians suffering under the misrule of the APC. It was a collective effort.”
“It will require the entire PDP family and other supporters and sympathizers. Nobody should be excluded, I beg of you. I have already visited some of those who contested against me, as a way to lead in that effort to unify the party.”
He also stated that it will require the entire PDP family, supporters and sympathizers to pull everyone together for the success of the party, and that nobody should be excluded.
The Adamawa Waziri commended the National Working Committee, led by Iyorchia Ayu, for the excellent way that he has steered the affairs of the party including overseeing the most successful convention, the organizing committee for the convention for putting together a rancour-free and successful convention, the party’s National Executive Committee for putting the party and country first in its deliberations and decision-making process.
Earlier in his remarks National Chairman of the party Sen. Iyorchia Ayu said that all parties must come together. The National Working Committee will continue to work tirelessly because they were not only elected to organise a successful convention but to win the presidency.
“You elected us to give you more governors, you elected us to take control of the two houses of the National Assembly. You elected us to win all the houses of assembly across the states and we will continue to do just that by working with you, by calling on many of you to come and help us execute because we can’t do it alone.”
He further calls on the unity of all aspirants as there were no victors, no vanquishes, and the party won.
Present at the event is Bukola Saraki, a former President of the Senate, and other aspirants at the just concluded PDP presidential election convention, including Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, Tari Oba Olivar and Sam Ohuabunwa.
Others include Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta state, Tom Ikimi, Emeka Ihedioha, Babangida Aliyu, former Niger State Governor, Biodun Olujimi, Ahmed Makarfi, former Governor of Kaduna state, Ndudi Elumelu, and the PDP Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, among others.
