Daily Courier – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed that former President Goodluck Jonathan is still a bonafide member of the party.

This is according to the National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, who revealed that contrary to reports that Goodluck Jonathan is now a member of APC and contesting the presidential election, the former president is still a member of PDP as there are no facts to prove otherwise.

In an interview with Channels television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, the party’s image maker said, “As far as today, I am not aware of his resignation from the membership of the party [PDP]

“I would assume it is safe to say that he is a member of the party,” the PDP spokesman maintained. “If events follow thereafter, we can speak to that.”

“Membership of the party is personal. Membership of the party is at the ward level. I can’t speak for him. I don’t speak for the former President.”, the PDP chieftain stressed.

Daily Courier reports that the debate surrounding Jonathan’s candidacy began when his camp confirmed that the former Nigerian leader has registered his membership with the ruling party at his Otuoke Ward in Bayelsa State.

But the APC Chairman in the state, Dennis Otiotio, said Jonathan is not a member of the party, adding that he can only be a member if granted a waiver by the national chairman of the party, Adamu Abdullahi.

Earlier in the week, a group had purchased the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the former Bayelsa State governor.
