Amaechi resigns appointment, squares for presidential primary

Daily Courier – The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has resigned his appointments.

Amaechi is a presidential aspirant, seeking political offices on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Their resignation followed a directive from President Muhammadu Buhari to members of his cabinet and other public officials with political ambition to resign their appointments.

The President had through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, directed all ministers and political appointees contesting for various elective positions to resign their appointments on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.l

Amaechi had on Sunday in Kaduna, hinted of plans to quit the Federal Executive Council this Monday.

The Minister had said: “Even though I am resigning tomorrow (Monday), my colleagues will continue with the over 200km rail project of Kaduna-Kano, which 80km has already been completed.

Sources close to the Minister, however confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter on Monday to President Buhari through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha .
